Ron Gartrell

Ron Gartrell, Stephenson High School. Coach Gartrell and the Stephenson Jaguars beat previously unbeaten Creekside High 49-12 in a dominating performance at Hallford Stadium Friday night. This victory catapulted the then unranked Jaguars to #7 in the latest AJC 5-A polls. The victory and rankings are a bonus for the veteran head coach, but his players are always the focus with coach Gartrell. With a 28 year coaching resume that began in 1988, Coach Gartrell sits at 199 career wins. When he crosses the 200 win mark this season, it will place him in elite company with Buck Godfrey as the only two men to amass 200 victories or more in Dekalb County history.
