Charlie Waller, Decatur, Coach of the Year
Waller would have a perfect season in 1949 at 13-0. He would follow that up with a perfect season again in 1950. In 1951 he would move on to Auburn University with Ralph Jordan as an assistant coach. He would eventually move on to the American Football Conference as head coach of the San Diego Chargers in 1970.
His four years of coaching at Decatur High School would end with an amazing record of 43-3-1.
